Hey not making an ATV flame and not asking anyone to divulge there favorite single track but...

Does anyone else actively hide the entrance and exits of your favorite single track? By hide I mean, purposely avoiding tracks, roost etc... maybe putting some brush across the entry?

Just wondering, I'v seen so many great single track trails widened by ATVs it bums me out. Cutting trees and such. I think the quads have there place but man don't screw with those great 30 inch wide sections!

Yes-

We have a sweet trail in the Badlands that we have been able to keep hidden. :(

The problem is the BLM found it --- and they closed it before the Quads could widen it like they have to all the other trails! :ugg:

Dang, you guys make em wide over there!

We have rules at my property, atv's are allowed on the road only! We've carved some nice trails on the place and if an atv is caught on it they are banned.

We've been know to cover our tracks so to speak on the areas that we ride but can't make the rules. In fact, up here many of the state owned OHV trails are designated as bikes only with others allowing quads and 4wheel drives.

Most of the trails I run are at the most maybe a foot wide and really tight so no ATV could even go 10 feet dow a trail. I dont really hide them because where I go barley anyone else goes so I dont ever wory about ATV's or other bikes. I do try to keep secret my powder stashes when Im snowboarding though :)

Many local single tracks are cleared by local pro riders to practice on and they use old 4x4 quads to clear the trails. The quad riders I know, though they ride single track occasionally, don't particularly like getting their plastic all scratched up and going at a fraction of the speed a bike would.

The trails I make myself often have a steep, rooty sidehill near the start of each track. Which would keep quads away and horseriders too ;).

You've just got to put your singletrack where they can't go! :)

We've got giant boulders blocking the entrances to trails in one of our riding areas. They're placed close enough together only bikes can get through.

If mine get widened by quads, i just go find another deer trail. Only complaints are from the deer! :)

We don't bother hiding them around here. With real honest-to-god tight eastern woods single track, no ATV could squeeze though.

don't alway's be so quick to blame the quads . here in michigan a lot of
guys ride down the side of the single track to avoid whoops , and before
you know it you have a wider trail !

You Bet Your Bippy! Some of the trails on the Island would make them crap themselves silly anyway!:silly:
