Anyone from South Mississippi

Anyone from South Mississippi ever ride the trails in the Desoto National forrest around Ovett, which is close to Laurel? We rode there last fall and it was pretty awesome, but I heard rumor that the trails werent open this year. Can anyone comfirm or deny this?

We just moved to Biloxi from Washington state....Are there many areas to ride down here (south MS)?
