I went to Nimitz for a year! (that would be San Antonio). My uncle graduated there. Powerful, Texas Style HS football program!

Thanks y'all. I was born/raised in TX but moved out here to SC about 3yrs ago. I was thinking I might bump into some old riding buddies (if they still ride) from my childhood here. we used to ride meunster, rocky ridge, off hwy360, etc.

360 was my favorite stomping ground back in the 70's, nice large free place to ride, and you could still get to some little stores on your bike to get a bottle of cold Gatorade.

Did you ever ride off of 820 @ John T. White road?

I never rode off of 820.

we used to ride all the way from irving where I lived to the 360 trails. we knew all the back roads and fields to cut across and would go through the storm ditches underneath 183 and head down valley view rd and hit some trails in irving by some railroad tracks that would lead all the way to the 360 trails. man! 14 yrs old was fun!
what were our parents thinking? Letting us do that!

We rode our dirt only bikes all the way to 360 from Bedford and Hurst! Would push the bikes across all (most) roads, go thru parking lots, up drainage ditches, peoples yards (not too many) whatever it took. Would go when temps were sub freezing to over 100 degrees. Would just stop @ Dairy Queen or Mickey D's along the way if needed to warm up or for a drink. Did you ever ride up to the old Airport Terminal building and go in the lobby for a cold drink? Or ride on the runways after the Airport shut down?

The 70's were a much better time for 'open' riding, cops would generally look the other way as long as you were not doing something really stupid.

I never rode the airport but I lived right down the road from it. This was around 88-89 or so. Their was also a small riding area by esters road and valley view, which is where hwy161 ( ithink) runs through now. we rode there alot too.

Of all that riding I only got busted a few times. My friend would always get caught, but he was riding a quadracer250. Back then all they did was make you push it back home...which meant pushing until they couldnt see you anymore.
riding from Irving to 360 was a blast.

Do you remember part of the 360 trails where you could get on the hwy shoulder? As idiot kids, we would get on the shoulder every now and then and try to keep up with the cars. Topping out my cr80 was about the coolest thing in the world at that age. 360 had some nice deep bowls too i remember.

I am familiar with Esters rd area, that is where you could ride under hwy 183 in a small drainage tunnel.

My Son (Stan Flemmings) had his first ride on my 87 KDX when he was 9 months old there, would have been around December 1987. What was my Wife thinking!

Thats the place. That tunnel is how we crossed 183 and come out by the hotel.

That was a neat little close to home place to ride...I wish I had something like that still. we had a firework mishap there once... :flame:

I did. There & Morrison Rd. Also off of Old Randoll Mill up by the liquer store. My friends dad leased that land for him and then some over off of Brown Trail.
I would go with Gene Fichte, Glenn Boyett & Larry Smith. Never did do 360 but always wanted to.

Small world Jeff! Was the property across from L.D.Bell High School? Or was it across the freeway next to the 'Buddys' Super Market?

There were some pretty good hills by the Liquer store, Heck we probably rode together sometimes, and did not know it.

We also had a track (rough, very rough) @ Forrest Ridge and the freeway, just a block from the Bedford Police Department.

I remember that place but it's not the same as the one I was talking about. This Brown Trail ran from Lamar Blvd to 360 before Lamar went all the way through. It was private so O don't know if you'd been there.
