Are Plug caps supposed to have resistance?

I was doing some checks on my ignition circuit and found the spark plug cap has over 1k ohms resistance. I had a new MSR cap in my parts supply and checked it...<1ohm. Do stock caps come with resistors in them or is something wrong with it? BTW 98 YZ250

I believe the OEM caps have resistors built in to supress radio noise and RFI. If the original has a resistor, I would make sure a replacement would have the same, or damage to the ignition components could occur.

The OEM caps have resistance in them to supress EMI, That is correct. You won't do damage by removing the resistance. What you will do is get a hotter, more reliable spark. I allways toss my stock wires and caps on any of my bikes and snowmobiles. I use MSD car wires, they have the least resistance I have found in any wire on the market(less than 50 ohms per foot) and they have never given me any trouble
