Bad top end cause high idle?

Hey,
I have a 94 RM125. The top end was pooched and I recently ordered a new top end kit. It hasnt arrived yet(on back order) but before I did the compression check (it was at 85-90psi) it would rev like there was a air leak. I dont think there is a leak, and am wondering if it could have just been the top end. I dont want to fire it up with the new top end in it and it goes to 6000 rpm instantly in neutral.

well first, good i dea on ordering a new top-end, b/c 90 psi is very low. second, try looking at your spring and slide in the carb, is it getting hung up on any thing? does the slide not go all the way down? this is the first place i would look.
