battery keeps going dead on 2001 yamaha ttr 225

my kid bought a 2001 yamaha ttr 225. battery keeps going dead. have worked on cars here for 30 years but not bikes. any help here would be appreciated. new here so if there is somewhere here i can look for answers let me know. thanks

Does he take the key out or turn it off?

How old is the battery? It is possible that the battery is simply outlived its useful life and is self discharging.

Charge the battery up and then leave it disconnected. If it goes dead in the same amount of time all by itself then it is the battery.
