Bay Area (SF) rider new to the sport!

Hello everyone. I finally did it!! I am one of those guys that has always wanted a motorcycle, all my friends had them as kids, but mom would never let me. I just got my first used bike to get things started.

I have been reading the site for a month now, using it to pick out gear and find spots to ride, and hopefully once I get the hang of this - some people to ride with.

For now I'm going to take things slow and do my best not to wind up like that kid in the Christmas story that really wanted his new bb gun even though every one told him he'd shoot his eye out, only to finally get the bb gun and shoot his eye right out. So far most of my friends tell me I'm going to hurt myself when I tell them I got a bike . . . so we'll see.

This weekend will be my first outing. I found a friend that is patient enough to show me the ropes.

Hope your first trip is a good one. There are a lot of us here from northern Cal. Whenever I know of a local group getting together I will send you a pm. All speeds and levels of exp are welcome.

Be sure and go to your User CP and update information relating to your location, type of riding, etc. After that grab a spot on the couch and tell us a bit about yourself. How long you have been riding, what kind of riding you prefer, where you are located, etc. We will do our best to hook you up with some fellow dirt bike enthusiasts.

Watch for threads to be popping up soon for an upcoming ride in the Reno area, Monnrocks to be more specific. It will be in early to mid February and is a great ride to meet a bunch of members and get in some great late winter riding.
