Definitely Puppets. Although ...And Justice is a real close second.

 I own it but what a step backwards!!! Sorry but I disagree. I am a huge fan but they DID sell out to sales. In the early days they prided themselves on making it without radio, gaining popularity on bootlegs. Then they mellow the music for more radio play. :ugg:

I'll take the black album and And Justice For All for the most good songs.

It's very hard to choose one of their albums as best, but I'll say that Master of Puppets is a bit better than the rest.. I don't really think they sold out by Load and ReLoad, they only had the courage to try something new, which a lot of bands don't have, Slayer for instance have gone on with the same pattern for a very long time, very fast drums and guitars accompanied by Tom Arayas screaming voice, album after album..

Kill 'em All has to be my number one pick. If for no other reason than the raw power.
Master of Puppets is a close second.

I think I have to go with Master of Puppets, even though my fav song would be "Whiplash", Kill em all is basically neck and neck with it......
.
Yeah, I heard that James and Jason Newsted have talked in a year.
I wonder what the real story is there...?
anyone know?

Master of Puppets and followed by Garage Days the Original copy (I know they did not write the songs, but they sure rock doing them).

A woman after my own heart!
In order of greatness
Puppets
Justice
Ride the Lightning
Kill 'em All
Garage Days
Black

The rest all tied for last place

-side note- I always though it would be cool to see Metallica, Megadeth, Exodus, and Flotsom and Jetsom tour together.
Who here (besides Lou) can tell me why this would be so cool?

Oh I forgot about Garage Days! And I own it.

The Queen and Skynyrd remakes are awesome.

I think this is why it would be cool:
Dave Mustaine-former Metallica member
Kirk Hammet-former Exodus member
Jason Newsted-former Flotsom and Jetsom member

Garage days revisited...

I didn't think they made bad albums...

I think Load is a great album, it's just not what "I" expected to hear from Metallica. Once I listened to it without expecting it to conform to my preconcieved notions of what Metallica sounds like I liked it a whole lot more.

I rate 'em like this:

....AJFA
MOP
TBA
KEA
RTL
Re-LOAD
LOAD

I don't count S&M or Garage Inc., since its not really any new or original material (aside from -Human and No Leaf Clover).

From what I understand, the main reasons Jason left was not enough freedom to do other things musically, lack of input towards what the band does, and physical damage caused by headbanging all these years. Supposedly, Jason and James are gonna sit down and have a real heart-to-heart chat pretty soon. The rumor right now is that we can expect a new album sometime this fall. I can't wait! :aj:

Dave and I have gone around and around on the "new" Metallica issue. Bought Load, just because of past efforts. Dave has always been a huge Metallica fan, but was severely disappointed with Load. So much, that it was actually part of a collection of CD's that he took in for resale. Never even purchased ReLoad. We agreed, though, that Load was a good rock album--had it been done by any other band. But it certainly was NOT Metallica. If they had gone out and re-packaged their sound and renamed the band and then came out with Load, I think people would have been more accepting. After all, they cut their hair, changed the band logo, and developed a new sound-- they're a different band.

I mean, if you bought a brand new Corvette without seeing it or driving it--just because you knew the history of the car, wouldn't you be a little disappointed to find out that what you really bought was just a Chevy Chevette? It's still a good car (ok, that's debatable) but it's not what you paid for or wanted.

Or, to put it pictorially, when we heard Load we got :think and  when what we really wanted was :aj:

Well put Lori.
Metallica lost me when I went to see yet another concert of theirs. Which one had the stage with the pit in the middle?:think Anyway instead of selecting two maybe three songs off of the past albums and playing them. They created medleys of all their past hits.  They chopped, diced and sliced all the songs that I loved. It left a real sour taste in my mouth.
I haven't bought anything since AJFO. Although I have listened to most of the songs they have put out. You really haven't been able to :aj: to their music since then.

Hasn't Jason started producing some upcoming band?? There has always been talk about him not being able to influence enough in Metallica, which is quite sad because he seemed to want to make a bit heavier music than the direction they were going..
Thunder 33: thank's for the cigar! (that was quite an easy one tough..)
