Hello everyone!

I'm new to the site, and new to dirt bikes. I've had experience on street bikes, about 6 months on a 2001 Honda VFR800, but the cost for plates just went through the roof here in Montreal, Canada :whoa:
So I am making the switch to the dirt world! (less cars in the way :)
I would like a little help in deciding what to get between a crf250x and 450x, or any other suggestions you vererans may have!
Thanks!

1) your physical size (both height and weight are important)
6'4, 200lbs
2) How physical / aggressive are you ?
not too agressive/physical
3) what do you plan to ride- MX/SX tracks, woods, fields with friends or ?????
woods, fields, and some indoor tracks with friends
4) Do you have any riding experience?
about 6 months on a street bike (Honda VFR800 2001)
5) Do you think you will race ?
no
6) Are you mechanically inclined and will you be doing your own bike work?
only the easy stuff, I'll leave the technical stuff to the professionals
7) Do YOU have a preferance to a brand/ motor choice (2 or 4 stroke)?
I've ridden Honda, and like the 4 strokes.
8) Do you have a dealer close by your home that you might use and what brand(s) does he carry?
yes, Honda and Yamaha
9) How much ($) do you plan to spend on a bike?
$7000 :yikes:
10) Do you live in California?
no, Canada
11) Your age?
39

With that budget, your selection is almost unlimited. Keep in mind that a 250F is the most high maintenance bike you can buy. If you are not mechanically inclined, you will be taking it to the shop frequently, and shop labor isnt cheap. The 450X would be alot of power for someone with no dirt experience. Street experience helps with understanding gear and clutch control, but doesnt exactly translate to dirt. It would help to know people that ride off road and test ride a few of their bikes.
