Bike for a friend

Hey guys,

My friend told me if I quit my job, he'd get himself his first dirtbike (because he got fired from this job and hates the company :nener: ).

Anyway, I'm trying to figure out a good ride for him. He's 5'9", 145 and still growing. This would be a bike for riding on trails and fields and such. He'd prefer something that doesn't require much maintenance. I'd like him to ride a Kawi, but if we went with another brand, that wouldn't be the end of the world. He has about $2,000 to spend.


Any ideas?

You have to decide weather he wants a 2 or 4 stroke. The Kawasaki KDX makes a great begener bike and is easy to work on. If he wants a 4 stroke then look no further then a Honda XR250 because it will run forever.

if he'll be doing mostly trail riding with some fields thrown in, then the KDX200( a KDX220 is hardly any different) would be perfect for him, and its a Kawasaki. its got a lot of low-end like a 4T, but it still has the snap of its true 2T self( if you didnt get it, the KDX is a 2-stroke :nod: ).

I'm looking at the KDX myself. It seems like a great bike.

What about the Honda/Yamaha 230f?? I think those would be perfect for him, power-wise.

So I guess it's the KDX vs. a 230F?
