I have read on this site that one of the most frequent and inexpensive mods on the KDX is to remove the airbox lid. My '03 KDX 220 was running a little rich and putting out a bit too much smoke and spooge, so I took off the airbox lid. When I did, the bike ran rough and seemed to smoke more. I had stock jetting at the time. I had to put the lid back on for it to run right. I have since raised the clip on the needle valve to the top position and changed out the main to a 40. I have not messed with the pilot jet. I have not run the bike since making these mods. Am I going the right direction here?
