I think this nonsense needs to be addressed. I think that all of us need to show a little class and respect for these guys. Those of us who love this sport need to start talking and educating the people who think its ok to act like this. It is fine to be patriotic or have a favorite rider or to not approove of something that happens on the track. But you do not have to make an ASS of yourself! The next thing you know people will start throwing bottles (just kidding, this only happens in the NFL,right?):silly:

I agree. I also think it's bad taste to call some of these guys names. We don't know these guys personally. Just because one rider says something that rubs us wrong, he might not be an a hole, it might have just come across wrong. What if I would start calling people names here because I read something I didn't like, well I'd probably get booted! The fact is none of us really know these guys to pass judgement on them. Sure some of them may say stupid things or do stupid stuff but we all do that ;). Well I guess if they committed a crime or something I'd think less of them.

The thing is I *love* MX & SX *racing*. I don't put these guys or any famous person for that matter on a pedestal. I *respect* all these guys & gals for being the best at what they do. I personally don't really have a favorite rider, again I have a ton of repect for what it takes to compete at that level. I truly don't understand why someone would boo or call names at someone like RC or David V. Can you imagine what RC's life is like, how much training and dedication it takes to ride like he does or any other rider. I bet it's not much of a life for the average person, although us motoheads would love it:confused:

I think this topic has probably been flogged to death by now.

Keep things in perspective, and try not to take any of this stuff personally. This is not life and death, it is just racing, an evenings entertainment.

The problems start when guys like yourselves with all good intentions try 'rectify' the matter, maybe do a little unwanted education. If you really feel serious about this matter, print up some flyers on MX etiquette, make it humorous, witty, and insightful, and hand them out at the arena, who knows, you never know. you may get through to those who need a little enlightening. Try to refrain from direct confrontation, that is unless you think you can approach the situation in a level headed manner.

The last thing I want to see are fist fights, riots and bottle throwing in the arena.

Think of it as light hearted ribbing, if it is anything more serious than this, then we have a problem. I would hate to see the finger been shown in the crowd, spitting or other disrespectful outrageous behavior.

If someone boos, let it go, cheer your guy on even more. A good lusty boo, or a heartfelt cheer does wonders for the spirit (must be something to do with the 2 stroke fumes !)

Most importantly, have fun.

If you can turn to the raucous guy next to you at the end of the evening, and with a big smile shake his hand, and say "Man, this was a fantastic evening", and he grins and shakes your hand, then it will all be worthwhile ! :)

I can just see my fellow DRN'rs sitting far away from me, with this 'I don't know this guy look on their faces" :) see ya all at Dallas SX 2002.

I with you man.

There's a couple guys out there right now that I don't like at all but calling riders you don't like stupid names is very childish in my OPINION (bad word).

Yes it doesn't bother me to piss somebody off.
