I bought a '88 cr125 from my brothers friend who had recently bought the bike and took the engine out. I got it for almost free :p so i don't really mind doing some work on it. Now my brother found out the previous owner told him that the bike works but the bottom end needs some work, and that eventually it wil go.

I guess my question is, what all is involved in rebuilding the bottom end. Would just getting end seals and bearings solve the probem?

I have a Wiseco piston on order and am getting the cylinder bored. I don't have any experience with 2 stroke but am mechanically enclined.

Until you tear it down, you can't say if it will be enough or not. You have to tear it down to check the crank for the condition of the lower rod bearings. If it is tight (no up and down play), with no blueing or roughness, then fresh main bearings and seals may be all that's needed. It may not even need that. Only an inspection of the condition of the lower end will tell you what needs rebuilding.
