Hi, I am an older rider . live In southern Virginia ,USA. I own a 1986 Honda XL 350 R now. I use to race 125 class , Hair scrambles In New Hamshire & New England USA. Way back in the 1980's ) in 1996 I had a little accident & lost my right leg from the Knee down ! This Has not stopped Me from getting on my bike still once in awhile . But, I need to find out where I can get a Brake conversion kit to add a Lever too my Handle Bars to control the rear Brake . It is very hard Not too stand On the rear Brake while going down steep hills . I have had one too many accidents that could have been avoided . it is hard to ride In the Mountains with out real Brakes . I have been gearing down to slow down . But, Once in awhile I forget that I am missing that rear brake & right Foot ! I have Plowed alot of new trails while trying to stop!! I wear a Flex foot(RSVP ) that is very simaler to a leaf spring with a shock ) . But the foot dosen't have the movement of a real foot . Any way if anyone can steer me towards a conversion Kit ! I am a welder By trade , & own a Ornamental Metal fabrication shop ,In Bedford ,Virginia USA. thanks again , johnmatisse

johnmatisse.

May I suggest you have a custom cable made to go from an extra lever on the clutch side of your handlebar directly to the rear brake drum. Thereby eliminating the pedal and all of the linkage. If you can't find anybody to make the cable in your area, try Terrycable in Hesperia California.

I'm thinking about some kind of plate you can put on the side of your gas tank that you can squeeze. I will ask a rehab techie I know for some ideas & get back to you.

I don't know if Rekluse makes an auto clutch for an xl350, but they have a setup that adds a left side lever that works the rear brake. I have it on my 03 YZ250. You still have a short little trigger for the clutch on the left too.
