I broke the piston skirt on the intake side and was wondering if I should disassemble the lower half of the motor to take a look at the crank bearings and such for damage from the pieces? I can't really find any major chunks, it looks like the conrod ground most of it up against the case. Can I somehow flush out any of the pieces, and if so what should I use? Thanks.

The main bearings are likely full of debris and there is no way to effectively clean them out. It's time to split the cases.

Split the cases and remember next time to do a top-end at least once a year if not twice or more depending on how much riding your doing. That'll help prevent that from happening again.

I would split the cases and put a new big end bering, its just good insurance.
I have seen people skimp on this and it trashed the crank because the piston particles flat spotted the bering from grinding on it . .

I have had several friends ruin pistons in their 01 CR's. The weisco piston appears to last a lot longer and does not gernade when it wears out.
