Jeremy and Company,
My 02 KTM 400EXC has a broken shock spring; don't know how, but it explains how it's been acting. Instead of asking and waiting on KTM to get around to me in 3 months, do you think a "straight rate" spring from a 98 300 EXC would work okay? I usually like a stock spring. I'm an A rider, 180 pounds, riding Harescrambles in Georgia and South Carolina. Your advice is appreciated.

Most people prefer a progressive on the EXC-stright rates are used more for mx.However if you can try the spring for free , it only takes 20 minutes to fit it.

Thanks Marcus. Anyone else have input as to the use of a straight-rate spring over stock. I'm not motocrossing, but racing scrambles and enduros, so hopefully it works okay.
