Calling all Honda gurus: Rear Wheel Question

I have a 1987 CR500 and know that the tire and rime are the same for the 250/500 for 1987 and 1988. However, I have heard that the same rear wheel will fit my bike from all the way up to 1994. I don't care about the "gold" color of the rim and trying to get any information from a Honda dealer's who simply refer to part numbers on a micro-fiche has had no success (and Yes, Service Honda was no help either).

So I am asking any people with personal experience in rear wheel swaps to provide me with an answer to my dilemea.

I wouldn't mind getting a second rear rim for my 89 CR500 to put a paddle on and leave mounted, so same answer would be appreciated.
