Hi I thought I could figure this one out and I just can't! And you guys are my last resort.

My question has to do with "IF THEN" statements
For this project I have the question asks:

Head office will award a 5% bonus if the monthly total is greater than 3200, It then says
Use a function which will test for the montly total and display the 5% bonus value greater than 3200 or 0 if less that 3200.

So can anyone help me out? All I keep getting is invalid formulas!!!
Does this look right =IF(B10>G11,*.05)

Thanks for your time:)

=IF(B10>3200,*1.05)
try that. you need to multiply by 1.05 otherwise you ill only get %5 back as the answer. I might be able to figure it out if you send me the sheet?

Not sure if you need the $, for some reason i when i filled it put the right equation in but had to hit enter on each seperate box otherwise gave the answer of B14. But that's the basic formula anyways.

Hey thanks for all your help!! It looks to work for the first one, but after that it is suppose to give me a value of zero if they don't reach there goal. And it seems to give me the same number across, I think I need to :absolute: the value, I will keep trying it and if you can tell me what I am doing wrong that would be good too!

thanks again:D

PS. If I change each formula for the right column ie. Chnage d10 to e10 then it works, So I understand that part, but why won't it fill?

Ah oh well, it works good thanks a lot!! I lost some hair over that today!!!
Do you have a good method to learn "if then" functions because my book just sucks, and well the paper clip isn't much help it just says, state argument???

Ok I hope I am not being a pain right now, but there is this one question that asks, your employees have negotiated an 8% wage increase. You will phase it in with a 2% month beginnng with March and ending in June. Use a formula in cells D18-G18 to calculate the new salaries.

Now is there a consectutive formula to add the orginal total, plus add the new percent? Because I am just doing them one by one, but I don't want to lose marks:(

I've only taken two very breif courses on excel so I can't really help you with a learning method. I actually haven't even used excel outside of school. I used the help menu (not the annoyting paper clip) to refresh my memory on the If, THEN functions. I don't think I full understand your question. Do you just want to add an additional 2% each month to the current bonus? It sounds like you want this in a new row though since we were using row 14 before. So my guess is you just make a new equation adding the current total and the 2% month increase.

PS: This is kind of off topic, but you ride the CMRC circuit? You should let me know if you ever hit Wastelands on Vancouver Island.

No PLEASE!! Get me off topic! Yes I am in the CMRC, I REALLY want to ride the wastelands, I am in Alberta, so the farthest race is Calgary(there are maybe some a bit farther) , but some buddies of mine are thinking of going to Vancouver, I have some distant family there that are more than welcome to let us stay. So maybe next summer we will be making a road trip:)
Have you ever been to Alberta? Rode here?
So what class are you in?

Oh by the way, I figured out that problem! So now I am almost done (with thanks to you!)

ps, are you affilated with racer's edge snowmobiles?

Good to here you got it all worked out. You in college in Alberta? I'm actually taking Mechanical Engineering at a college here in Victoria. I just moved back from Washington state though, don't even have my bike up here yet, haven't found a place to store it. I've been to Edmonton mall once when I was just a toddler but never since. Have a few friends going to school there and such now, seems everyone from BC is running to Alberta for jobs. I haven't gotten a chance to race here, this summer was going to be my first seasn racing in WA but I broke my left hand and right wrist wich I had surgery on this summer so didn't get a chance. I mainly just play ride but have enjoyed racing some buddies on a MX track near where I usd to live. I'll definately have to ride wastelands this summer.

Racers Edge is just a sticker I have on my swing arm, I think it's a dealership near Chilliwack BC (where I bought my bike used). I hear there's another Racers Edge dealership in Texas or somewhere but am not affiliated with any.

Hmm yes there are a lot of racer's edge companies, but there is one somewhere in Canada that specializes in making 10000 to 50000 dollar snowmobiles!
Yes I go to college(G.M.C) here in Edmonton.(You know anyone that goes here or to nait?)
Well if you run up to here for a job I got a place to store your bike

The guys I know are going to U of Alberta or the other big U's and one of them is going to a bar tending school. Don't think I've heard of those other two schools.

Het Grok, wow I wasn't sure there were any other Victorians on here, but I guess now I know! We'll have to go ride sometime when I get my bike up here finally. Are you a member of the Victoria Motorcycle club? I'll probably join when I get the bike up.
