I got a basket case given to me a couple of months ago.
When I got the bike the engine was in two different boxes.
When I assembled the cam/cam chain/tensioner assembly, it's too loose. After furter inspection(read removing flywheel) I can see that the sprocket on the crank is shot. The chain and cam sprocket will need to be replaced also.

I poured over my manual, and they want to defer to a dealer shop to tackle the job of replacing the crank sprocket. Aparently, the sprocket on the crank pressed on. Is this something that can be done with the crank still in the engine?

Keith, I think that sprocket is a tapered fit. You should be able to remove it with a small gear puller. Replacing it may need a press.
