Ok, are you talking about a CRF250R? or a CRF230F?

Honda does not make a CRF250F

The CRF250R is a race bike, the CRF230F is a trail bike.. They are two totally different animals.

i think he means the Mxer, the Crf250R. Go for it, you should be able to handle it, even if you putt it around for the first little bit

it depends have you ever riden an mx 4t they have a lot more touchy throttle then your 150f

i have riden my friends and im like DUDE you bike lags. because the pickup on it is so slow. also beaware that the 250 is about the same weight as you 150 and about 4 times the power so it will do wheelies if you give it too much gas which doesnt happen on the 150f

The 250r weighs 204 lbs, the 150f weighs 223 lbs. I find mine a bit tall, and I am 5'10". And yes, it is MUCH more powerful. After getting it properly jetted it will pull the front wheel off the ground in the very bottom end of third. Just watch the throttle hand.

I went from a 125 to a MXC KTM 440 smoker. Huge power differance and weight and I am just a little bigger than you. I own a cr250 as well and I like the 440 more. I think it all depends on how power hungry you are, if you think you are ready for power you can handle it, if you are afraid of the power it wont do you much good.

do you seriously use all of the 440's power cuz i highly doubt that

average joe does not use all of the bikes power

heck my bro in law rides a cr500af and the thing is a beast. no one could use it to its full potential. he even admits it.

What ever bike you get, DO NOT be afraid of it, if you are afraid of the bike, you will not ride right, and if you do not ride right, the more likely you are to crash

I dont come close to using all the power the 440 gives. I love the bike for that very reasone, it is nothing but pure two stroke power. But I am a persone that does not like limits on my bike, thats why I choose the 440 over my cr250.

i would get the 230.

a 250x would still be very powerful for you coming off of a 150f

though it would be the better choice out of the 2

dont waste your money on a 230. you will again find yourself looking for more power than it can give you. I am the same hieght as you, 10 pounds lighter and i can almost ride my 125 pinned everywhere. I am moving up to a 250 2 stroke in the near future as i ride my mates' very comfortably. The 250x would be perfect for you on the trails. I ride either track or trails, but cant afford a 250f, otherwise i would more than likely find myself on one.

The 250x is much more mellow than the R. It has a heavier flywheel, wide ratio tranny, and I believe the porting is different as well as all the usual trailbike restrictions(airbox, exhaust, etc). I would say the 250x would be your best bet. It weighs 2lbs more than your 150. You can mod it to free up some ponies as you get more comfortable on it. The only down side is they cost 3k more that a 230.

they are heavy and underpowered for their weight

and if you think the 230 has a lot more power then your 150 then the 250 is a completely different beast. it might be 20 cc's but it is liquid cooled better suspension and both are good for the track (the r is better obviously but the x can manage fine)

You can always go slower than max throttle, but never faster. I agree with Rushy08, get the bigger bike.

My first bike was a CR250. Before my first ride, an experienced rider gave me the best piece of advice. "If you ever, even slightly, think you're going too fast -- you are."

At least find one you can test out by sitting on/straddling though. Make sure you have the leg length to kick it without having to find a stump to stand on.
