Hello, I wasnt sure which forum to put this in, so i'm putting it here. I am wondering if my 1988 Ford Escort GT HB 1.9l can pull a 2 bike trailer. It is 100miles to my favorite riding spot (Gorman, Ca) and have to go up the Grapevine (mountain pass?). It is long hill and dont know if my car will do ok. Thank you in advance on any comments.

We used to go racing in a 1978 escort 1.3 estate(uk model i think) with a 3 bike trailer. As long as you dont expect to get there fast and it mechanically sound it should be o.k.,learn to use the gears on decents or you will run out of brakes fast.

I have seen soom big people getting in and out of those cars. I am sure the weight of two people, bikes and gear is not that much more than 4 extra large people that biggie size every time they hit the local drive threw. keep an eye on your dash, and remember that you race at the track not on the way to it.

My brother and I used to haul a three rail bike trailer with 2 dirtbikes in a '89 Honda Prelude... We never had a problem - but then again we never went up a 90 degree mountain either.. Hope you have a stick.

Good luck and bring an extra clutch :p

Kawie250Kid,

Just a heads up, U-Haul has some great prices on their hitches and the cost includes the installtion. They also have a lifetime waranty on them.
