hi every1 as you no if youve read my previous thread ive got a ttr 125 its my birthday next week and ive just had my suprise prezzie my longed for crf 230 waahhhaaayyyy!! :laugh: but ive got a problem iam only 5ft 1 and can just touch with my tiptoes so u can imagine what it will be like 2 ride on the desert dunes :yikes: can anyone tell me if u can get a lowering kit for it please if so how much does it lower it by? regards anita

have u tryed of setting ur balance like putting your left foot on the peg and the right foot on the ground ??? you might have to lean your body a little bit i dont know the height of the bike so try that

I purchase the Kouba Link for my CRF250 and it really helped.
The site is www.koubalink.com. The lowering link is $140.00US. I know I had trouble coming up with the extra cash after just buying a new bike but it was worth it. After you put on the link, you can slide up the front forks to lower the front. Good luck!!!

thnx gonna try the koubalink hope they ship 2 the uk! tryed the foot on left peg n right on floor but nearly drop the bike when i do :| gggrrrrrrrr i`ll get there hopefully

Hi Anita,
I'm almost 5'3" - pretty tall eh? I got the Kouba Link for my bike, plus had the forks and springs professionally lightened and lowered on my CRF250x. At that point I could tiptoe both sides or touch solid by leaning to one side. I STILL kept falling over, mostly at a stop. And after I'd pick the thing up a few times I'd get mighty tired. I then shaved almost an inch out of the seat height and some on the sides and that made all the difference in the world - I can touch solid balls of feet on both sides now. I know people say it'll make you a better rider not being able to touch very well, but for me it wrecked my confidence and wore me out. I've improved a thousand times over and have WAY more fun now.

hi ant was disscussing my seat today iam considering the shaved seat option :) iam off on it tomorrow again so i`ll let u no how ive got on :yikes:

Hi, Anita! Congratulations on your new bike!!! I know that you will love it! Sounds like you've gotten some good advice regarding lowering the seat height. I hope that you get everything worked out. :cool:

Hi rockyroads thanx! ive been on it since and on off road terrian it wasnt to bad didnt drop it once :) i love it glad i made the change iam still on a buzz cant wait to go out on it again ;)

im hopefully financing the 2004 CRF230F in march.... and i sat on one and im 5' 6" 150lbs and it fits me perfect. my tippy toes touch the ground but i think i'll grow into it a little. the seat height on the 04 is 34.1 inches. do you use the electric start at all? i'll only use the e-start when its cold. and mostly use the kick start.

Actually it's the other way around - estart is sluggish when it's cold, that's when I use my kick starter more, worried I'll run the battery down. Estart when it's warm just hits in the first second, it's GREAT!

Shave the seat foam.... on my Honda CR250 I couldnt touch the ground (Im 5'6") and after doing that and lowering the front forks I can get one foot down all the way and not have to lean, or both balls of my feet down (one foot solidly down feels more comfortable though).

kick start what kick start :laugh: mine unfortunatly hasnt got 1 :ugg: and i didnt realize till today doh! so yes i use my electric start all the time :think: do u think it should have a kick start on it?? its a imported bike

wow so what happens when the electric start fails :ugg: hellppppp iam really worried now cus i got my first competition in april

minime- when the e-start fails, bomb start it. push it up the tallest hill you can find, then hop on it, pull in clutch, shfit into 1st, then roll down the hill and dump the clutch. if everything is going properly it should start. it may take awhile when its cold. my friend has a Suzuki 80 2 stroke. biggest pile of i've heard of in a LONG time. well it has no e-start or kick start, so he has to bomb start it all the time.


ya i like e-start i got on my quad. i just hate kicking it over and over and over when its cold.

Bump starts on a hill generally work better if you have the bike in 3rd gear - not so violent when it engages and engine turns over easier.
