Can you use a battery instead of a stator
I'm not sure what you would will gain by doing this. What you really need is a stator that puts out enough power to run lights, charge the battery, and has a little left over in case you add a few things or have a dead battery. If you rewound the stator, did you use the same number of turns? I know there are a number of people that have rewound their stators and are increasing the number of turns to get more output to power higher wattage lights or more accessories (increasing the wire size doesn't increase the output wattage, increasing the number of winds does). The real question would be many additional winds you can add. You may also need to get a heavy duty regulator to power everything. Check a few other sites (try thumpertalk), I'm sure your not the only one that has rewound a stator for more output. What happened to the Moose stator?
