Hey all,

I've been working up in Capital Forest the last few weeks and have noticed some poor behavior among the ORV riders, mainly quads. Gotta stay off the roads! remember this is a working forest and there are always Foresters working! I almost pegged a quad spinning cookies in the road around a blind corner the other afternoon coming out of the hills and then a guy on a bike was hit and seriously injured on the C-line about 10 days ago, this could have been at one of the crossings - not sure, picked up the chatter on the CB. Anyway, the roads are not safe at any time, the weekend is often the time when heavy equipment is being moved and staged. Be safe and responsible out there, but then I know us DRN'ers are always safe and responsible, it's those other guys.

Ohv's are ok on the dirt roads in Capitol Forest provided you don't excede 20mph and ride recklessly. Closed, posted and locked gate roads are not ok to any ohv travel on any state land. Any green dot road on state land is open to ohv travel. I reviewed that with the DNR last spring when a bunch of quads were riding up the B- line. We also were told the same when we ran the last Enduro there. However it won't take many miscues to get the current ruling reversed.

I don't get the fascination with spinning donuts that grips these quad riders.

I shoulda said to just be safe on the roads, always anticipate the worst around the next corner. I'm working up off of the A-4000/4500 and the North Rim trail, and I mean right on the trail marking leave trees, and what I have noticed so far is bikes are on the trail and quads are generally tear assin up and down the roads, not sure how to interpret that but I have an opinion best kept to myself me thinks. Take Care.

PS - Is anyone going to be out at the Shelton Airport Friday night? I am headed down to Portland Saturday AM but would like to meet anyone coming over for the Poker Run, I am only about 10 minutes away.
