I don't think anybody's mentioned a Ford Escort, they are pretty good little cars, get great fuel mileage, and are fairly cheap. Plus they are easy to find.

wellt cheapest thing to do is buy a beat up piece of crap like i will have when i'm 16. when she does tear it up it wont be much of a loss.

First off, make her pay ATLEAST half of whatever vehicle she gets. Second off, get something useful, like say, a Toyota Tacoma. I'd stick away from convertibles, Jeeps, etc. I'd vote for a truck or something made from some good old Detroit iron.

A Tacoma is NOT Detroit iron, but if it can't be a Tacoma, it should be Detroit iron (AKA GM, Ford, Dodge).
