Looking for some folks to ride with in the northern Nevada area. Pinenuts, moonrocks, wherever. RV camping with the family, and riding as much as possible. Just got back from Stonyford, CA. Long drive but great riding.
Nope. I did find out that I can inspect my own bike and sign off on the street leagality of it. I mean one of the mechanics that work for me can. I have to get it insured and set up a brake light and a rear view mirror. I don't think I'll bother with turn signals, half of the Harleys we work on don't have them! It looks like we might be going to Colorado for a few days during the mystery 250 and the Reno dual sport thing. Too bad, I'd rather ride than go to a wedding. How's things with you?
I'm doing good. Just trying to get my stuff together for the Reno 200 next weekend. Do you have that EU3000 literature? Could you mail it to me?
You need to hook up with Strick and the rest of that crew. I'm really suprised he hasn't posted on this thread. Strick is/was the 'organizer' of president's weekend at moonrocks. Hook up with those guys and you'll ride more than your wife will like.
Give me an address here or on TT and I'll mail you a brochure and the other info for Holley Generator . Also, how do I find Strick? I need to ride, last weekend was a wash, yard work and DRZ repair. Better get to bed, I'm building a guy a Rotax tommorow, a nice break from the Harleys. Let me know on Gold Lake.
Lobotomy,
What do you ride, and where have you been in the pinenuts? I know some of the trails, but I try to explore more each time I'm out. I rode with a guy by the name of Doug Scott, he knows all the trails, he's gotta be 70 years old, but pretty fast! We'll have to hook up with him for a good tour.
Brian,
I'll send you the info on the 3000 asap, Just got a ticket for the mystery 250 from a guy that backed out. My wife said it's an anniversary present! Super present. I'm stoked, but I have a lot of work to do before saturday. Have to get those valves adjusted. Good luck on the Reno 200.
I ride a YZ 250 w/ a desert tank. I usually head out from the Deer Run Rd. area, but I have also ridden from the Douglas County Fairgrounds area a few times. I like the riding down there better than the Carson area. Sounds like Doug is the Pinenut guru.
Hey SERP, there are alot of us from up the hill that come down to ride during the winter. Moonrocks and Stead but usually ride Prosser/Russel valley areas. Ever get the chance to ride up in the Truckee area?
BEEN MOSTLY IN NEVADA PINENUNTS ETC. WENT TO STONYFORD, IT WAS AWESOME. WENT FOR A DRIVE TO AUBURN TO CHECK PLACES BETWEEN HERE AND THERE. HOW WOULD YOU RATE THE FOLLOWING. (LOOKING FOR THE CLOSEST TO ME IN CC) PROSSER, MAMMOTH BAR, NEVADA CITY, FOREST HILL, CHINA WALL, MACE MILL, FORDYCE JEEP TRAIL. PROSSER IS VERY CLOSE, APPROX 30MINUTES FROM RENO. WHERE ARE YOU GUYS?ANY OTHERS I MISSED?
I'M GOING TO THE MYSTERY 250 SATURADY, MAYBE OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS WE CAN PUT TOGETHER A RIDE WITH LOBOTOMY AND YOU GUYS WITH SOME OTHERS THRWON IN FOR GOOD MEASURE.
I haven't ridden most of those places yet, but as far as Prosser goes, it's not bad. "Prosser Pits" is a small SX inspired track but still alot of fun. Just off the Pits there are several great places to freeride (the "gun-pit) and Russel Valley. Just near there is Prosser Hill, a very technical single track that is a MUST if you like that sort of thing... As you go up I80, just before you get to Boomtown you will see a little area for staging and it has some fun areas to play around on and if you start there and go north over the mountain there are some really killer places to check out. My "backyard" is an area with several single-tracks and some fire roads that lead all the way to Lake Tahoe.... There is some interseting riding up here! Real nice when the Reno & CC areas get hot during the summer months!
SERPDRZ
Mace Mill and Forest Hill have lots of quality singal track. Stonyford
IS awesome- but trails are wider and more forgiving. The China Wall area is great- C+rider- not for beginers- and you shouldn't ride it alone- unless maybe you have a satilite phone and 100 foot rope. 200ft rope would be safer and a medical card. Prosser is good for ATV or a quick ride. Mammoth might be good IN A Downpoor.
Just my 2 cents..
Buddy
Wow, lots of input. Sounds like I have some more places to check out riding. Pinenuts is rocks, sand, hill climbs, some singletrack up higher. Rode the mystery 250 this weekend, rocks, sand, a little S/T... just like home, except the 100mph fire roads! Wheeeeeeeee! Lets plan a ride fellas. What's close to all of us?
I'm in Stockton, but sure wouldn't mind a little drive for some camping and riding, love to get in the Sierras this time of year. I mostly ride MX but only because I haven't had the opportunity to do any real singletrack, since I don't know anyone who rides ST. I'd imagine I can probably keep up a strong/good C pace. I've ridden Stead and Prosser Pits. I'm recovering from a separated shoulder right now, but should be reasonably ready to go towards the middle to end of July.
