I have finished installed Gold Valve Cartridge emulators in my
89. The difference is incredible. The forks used to deflect (hydraulic lock) off any square edge obstacles such as roots and rocks. Now they just take them in stride. The front end feels much more planted. The bike feels much more stable.
It now runs straight up hills that I used to bounce around on.
IMO they are worth every penny and then some.
