chain and rear sprocket question

i have a 99 kx125, i just bought a 50t rear sprocket (which is 2t larger than stock. do i need a longer chain for this to work?

You should change your chain when you replace your sprockets anyways

When I have bought a new chain they always came too long and I had to shorten it.

I would expect that the range of adjustment of the rear axle to be able to handle a two tooth difference in the sprocket, assuming that the chain was the right length to start with.
