changed rings

i changed the rings on my cr 250 1999 piston and head looked fine no deep scores etc,when i rebuilt it i kicked it over and it started and idles but wont take throttle, as soon as i give it some revs it just cuts out as if its over fueling?.checked carb jets float etc all seem fine, the bike run sweet as a nut before the ring change. all parts were from honda,has anyone had the same prob or know what could be wrong,any help would be great :nod:

I'm not too familar with the older 250's but I had an 01 and didn't hook the power valve up correctly. It was mechanical and a shaft ran down from the exhaust flapper to the case. When I put the jug on I missed the alignment and the bike would not run right.
Something to take into consideration.
