Hey, this is a stupid question, but how exactly does everyone change their tire? I took it off and released the air but the bead doesn't seem to be breakin off the rim. Its the rear. Any help would be awesome!

I've changed my rear tire a few times. I use a big c-clamp and some wood blocks to break the bead. Then I use 3-5 tire irons to get the tire off. I always felt putting it on was much easier than taking it off. I've been really tempted to get the tire changer from Harbor Freight. It's like 80 bucks.

Stick screwdriver or tire iron in between bead and rim, pull down, move and repeat all the way around on both sides. That should get you started.

how about just laying it on the ground and stepping on the tire.

Lets try not to complicate this eh?

I suppose that would work - as long as you're not dealing with a 6 ply Maxxis IT. ;)

I use my spare trailer tire as my tire changing "stand" at the track. Drop the tire onto the spare and kneel or step on it. Never had a problem but we change tires 2x per week so the tires aren't on the rim for any extended periods of time.

Wow - are you selling those slightly used tires?

They get plenty of usage. Monday the practice tires go on bike for the week. Sunday race tires go on. Next Monday repeat procedure.

Most rear tires see 4 racedays (flipped each time) before they end up in the practice pile. Fronts only get changed twice a season usually.

That may work fine for you but the rest of us would have to wait for the force of gravity to go up about 10 times what it is now :nener: :nener: :p
