I'm not even sure if a chest protector is the same as a roost protector, but I'm looking for advice on chest protection. It is for my son who is 9 years old, 4'3" and about 60 pounds.

I've compiled this list:

Alpinestars Youth Storm MX Roost Deflectors = $100
EVS Mini Flux Chest Protector = $90
MSR Youth Impact Deflectors = $80
AXO Vortex EVO Jr. Roost Guard = $72
SixSixOne Defender Pee Wee Chest Protector = $70
Acerbis Bomber Evolution Chromy Peewee Deflector = $59
Thor Peewee Quadrant Protector = $55
No Fear Stratos Mini Protector = $54
Oneal Hammer Jr Chest Protection = $40

Any first hand experience? Ones that are good? Some to stay away from? Do you get what you pay for? Are some of the mid-priced ones good enough?

My boy has been wearing a basic Fox Peewee for about three years, and it has been introduced to the dirt and his bars many times, without any major injuries. He is now 4'4" and 62 lbs. When it comes time to upgrade, I want to get him an EVS Ballistic, but they don't make what I want in kids sizes. Most likely any of the ones listed will serve him well.

evs ballistic jersey is very good. I wear one and like it much more than a normal plastic chest guard
