How long is the loop and is it at the Fort Polk Staging area?
How many laps for "C" riders as compared to "B" and "A/AA" Riders.
A friend of mine is in your club (Jason Reine) so I plan on joining the La Trailriders for next season.
The camp is not at Fort Polk at all; this one is just north of Alexandria sort of between Ball and Pollock. Camp Livingston.
We will set the # of laps according to conditions. Last year the A's and B's ran three laps on a 14 mile course. I think we cut the C's to two laps but don't really remember. Most of the C's and Juniors will get lapped anyway, so it doesn't really matter.
Jason Reine will be our starter this year along with his wife Ms. Susan. Jason and Steven Reed are out there RIGHT NOW bushhogging the campground and getting ready.
I will be out tommorrow clearing the trail and looking for places for our Course Marshalls to lurk in the bushes. Great fun!!!
You can count 2 more in,my riding buddy is from around that area, but not in your club,,I believe he's in the Breeze hill club,a few of us ride together every other weekend in Forest hills, last week we talked about the ride ya'll are putting and he convinved me we should go ,i'm 39 and this will be my first dirtbike race ever,he has been in a few enduro races and usually places in the top 3 in his class,i was never interested in enduro mainly cause of the time keeping,I know you that you still have to be a decent rider for enduro ,but i feel like you're racing a clock and not an individual,so i think i will enjoy this much more.
i'm ignorate to the whole racing format,so could you tell me what will be the different classes for a 39 yr old guy,and what do you recommend ,i ride a 400 4 stroke,i'm an AMA member so how much will it cost to enter ,what time should I show up and what other requirements will there be.
how are we lined up at the start, and how much time do we have between each loop, what are the things that can disquaiify you .
hope you don't mine all the questions ,but i would like to be a little informed so i don't show up blind.thanks for your time and info
Many of your questions can be answered @ http://sera.dirtrider.net/ltrflier2001.htm
You would probably be happiest in open C class. The vet class is spooky fast.
Each class starts separately; all in the class starts together. We use a dead-engine start. Kick it and go.
I am not sure what you mean by time between the loops. None. The C class will probably ride two laps on a 13 mile course. Take all the time you want between loops, but everyone will pass you!!
To get disqualified you can (A) curse a course marshall, (B) act a fool in the camp; i.e. pitracing, (C) blatant course cutting (we got someone last year!), (D) I'm sure I can come up with other ways, but the last thing we want to do is disqualify someone. It ruins the race for everyone.
I can't help but chuckle over the "decent rider" that rides enduros. Hehehehe.
We got the cool temps and 3/8th inch of rain that we ordered; should be a great weekend!!
Gee; MarkIT; the race has been in the SERA book and posted on the website for quite a while now, wish you could have come; we could have used a few more competitors.
The day was absolutely perfect! Trails were just right, temps were great, and especially; everyone was in the "have a great time" mood.
After the trophies were handed out no-one wanted to leave. . . we had to run them off!!
Congratulations to Bennie33 for walking off with the AA class!
John, Robert, thanks for the kind words. We have been trying to figure out for years how to get more competitors. Obviously we havn't found the combination.
We had an AMA National Hare Scrambles a few years back and nobody came to that one either! That one stung a bit.
I can't say how long we can keep trying.
Thanks to all the competitors for keeping it a fun event.
