Took off my clutch cover to get a look at my basket to check for notches. Can the notches be seen while the clutch is intact? Or does it have to be disembled to see any wear? Also I know that friction plates wear down. Is there anyway of checking wear without tearing it apart?

You can see notch's in the basket without tearing the clutch apart. You really need to take it apart to check/measure the metals and fibers.

Look closely and I could see some notching you can only see it if you look at an angle with a flash light. looking staight down at the clutch the basket looks fine.

Outer basket looks great, possibly aftermarket
Now for the inner. That where we have trouble. Stock inners are soft but cheap

Yeah, I agree, that basket looks fine.. It's got a little bit of notch, but not enough that you should notice much of a problem.

Pull those clutch discs and measure them, and have a look at the inner hub, see if it's notched.

Clutch would not be smooth upon releasing in first gear, and I can feel like a vibration coming from the engine when I slip it to get going. Its really jerky.

Heres another
