clutch problems

hey guys I just bought a 2003 yz 250f and it won't shift into neutral when it's running. When the engine is shut off it shifts into neutral fine but when it's running it goes from first to second and second to first- can't find neutral? Does that mean I need a new clutch basket?

you may need to adjust the clutch by turning out the screw on the clutch perch till the clutch fully disengages actually first most bikes need to be rocked a little while looking for neutral if it gets too sticky then adjust
