It sounds like the cpu or power supply is overheating. Open the case, I'll bet you'll see tons of dust built up on the fans and heat sink. Buy a can of clean compressed air and blow the dust out very thoroughly, and your problem will probably go away.

P.S. You haven't overclocked the cpu or video card, have you?

I opened it up and cleaned it out a few weeks ago. What do you mean by "overclocked the cpu or video card"?

If you don't know what "overclocking" means, then you haven't done it. If your PC starts to crash often, giving you the "blue screen of death", the simple fix is to re-install windows (I don't mean a full reformat, this is only neccessary if you have serious problems), and perform a full maintenance routine on the pc afterwards. I re-install windows on top of itself at least every six months or so, and keep up with proper maintenance. My pc never crashes since I began this routine.

Make sure both the cpu fan and the power supply fan are functioning correctly, and the case has clear airflow into and out of it. Most motherboards have the capability to monitor the temperature of the cpu, so you can determine if the crashes are heat-related or not.

First try spanky250's advice!
If it still does it, you might have to many programs running(in the back ground) at the same time with possiblly not enough RAM to run them.

To see the programs in the background:
Click on the start button on the bottom left. Select the "run" menu and when a box pops up type "msconfig". Now becarefull not to select anything unless you know what you are doing. If you don't, follow what I typed here.
:D Now the system configuration utility is running. Now select the startup tab!!! Now this is all the programs that run when you boot up your computer. If you haven't been here before I'm sure there is quite a few grograms running.?.
Now you can Deselect the programs you don't want to run. Just unclick them. BUT only do one or two at the most at a one time. If you don't know what the program is then don't un-check it untill you know.

Hope that helps?

You might have a bad stick of RAM. Or a motherboard that is a little screwed up. I'd re-install Windows and see if the problem persists. If it does, then it is surely a hardware problem.

Thanks for all the help. I've tried all the suggestions and it's still doing the same thing. When I get back from the GNCC on Monday it's going to the shop. I think Hucker is right it must be a hardware problem.

This would just get you a "not enough memory to run this application, current application will be terminated" message, not crash the pc.

This usually works for me when I get computer problems. No matter what the problem is, try this: Open up the case, pull the green wire from the multi colored board, grab the yellow wire from the video display thingamajigger and then grab a shovel and fill the interior with dirt. Bring it to your favorite riding area, throw it on the ground, scream "Hail to the computer God" and then jump on your bike and do a mean burny on it! Works for me everytime but I it seems like I'm always buying computers, can't figure it out!?

ROTFL!!! Thats the best technical solution I have heard in a long time.

Oh yeah, a454elk, you don't remember the jetting specs on that 92 RM250 you had do you?

To be honest, I had the bike for 9 years and only changed my jetting when I put the Pro Circuit pipe and silencer on. I don't remember what it was though but I remember bringing the clip position to the 2nd slot and I went down a main jet one size, I think. It ran great with those settings but kinda pooped out at higher elevations. I'm not one that changes jettings all the time when I ride in different locations, I guess I'm lazy or I adjust my riding technique to accomidate the change!
