question- I just purchased a 96 KDX 200. The bike came with a BR8ES pulg in it. When to the dealer to buy a couple more. He tells me I need a B9ES. Go to NGK web sight they list a B9ES, same as the dealer telling me for a 96. NGK web sight list a BR8ES for a 97 model. Both are using same reference chart. The owners manual which came with the
bike lists a BR8ES. Simple question what the difference between a B9ES and a BR8ES, which do you think I should use.

I would use the BR8ES. The BR8ES is a hotter plug than the B9ES and it is also of the resistor type, to save your ignition. Its a win-win situation with the BR8ES. ;)

Isn't that strange? When I go to the dealer & ask for a plug for my '95 they want to give me a B9ES, when my manual says BR8ES. I use the 8 and I think you should , too.

Scott,
Go with the BR8ES, keep in mind that the lower the number on the plug, the hotter it is. Watch your pre-mix ratio as well, the owner's manual says 32:1, but I've found that to be too rich. Good luck!
