I know this has probably been covered a thousand times, but I am working on a CR80 and the exhaust pipe leaks where it comes off the cylinder. Is there an easy fix to seal it?

The CR 80 has a different design. There is a gasket between the cylinder and the manifold.

Replacing the gasket does not change much. It will leak again.

The last time I worked on one, I used the high temperature silicon on the gasket. Coat both sides and assemble.

This has worked fairly well.

I am trying a different kind of sealant this time. The stuff that was on there before didn't hold up to the heat and exhaust pressure. That has to be the worst design that Honda came up with. The pipe doesn't even really get snug on the manifold, so it really takes a lot of goo to fill in the gap.

I like that 5.00 gasket. You knwo the one. It looks like it was made from melted down army men. It holds for at least 10 minutes into the first ride.

I wonder who designed that? I wonder why they still make them that way?

Great bike, but that gasket sucks.

Please let us know if you find a better way. Well, anything is better. How about something long lasting!
