cr125 prob

I have a 97' cr 125 with a wrecked distance collar and adjuster rod in one fork. I have the parts ordered, but was wondering if it can be ridden without the parts until they get here, or if I would just wreck something else?

doesnt sound like a wise idea-fork internals are very expensive.
