Is it normal for the oil in my transmission to be grey or silver colored? I have a 97 and my friend has a 95 cr125 and both bikes have grey oil after only 3 rides. I'm only asking because in my 84 atc250r the oil usually comes out clean or dark grey by comparison. Thanks!!

I rode mine for three rides before the first time we changed it out and it was grey and milky. I had rode through water several times and I noticed in my drip pan where some water had collected. Maybe that is what causes it. I have started to change it every other ride and it seems better.

Because these bikes have aluminum clutch plates, some aluminum from the plates contaminates the oil and it will come out grey-ish. If it looks like a grey milkshake, there is a water leak through the water pump seal. After switching to steel plates in the clutch, the oil will remain very dark for the two or three rides it's in there.
