I was replacing my tire today and noticed that the rim was cracked. I'm gonna weld the crack for now. When I do buy a new rim, what a pain it's gonna be. Any suggestions for when I do the replacment, any links for wheel trueing?

Is it the front or rear that your having trouble with??

I just replaced a front on my yz 250. I wish I had spent less time worrying about it...no big deal at all.

I dont believe I would trust a weld.

It's the rear, did you buy new spokes too? how old was the bike?, my spokes look kinna crusty and anticipate a few breaking or stripping when I try to remove em. how did you true the wheel, put the axle in a vise and spin the wheel while adjusting the spokes? thanks

I trued the wheel on the bike. C Clamp a pencil to a swingarm, fork leg, whatever.

I bought a new spoke set. I had some damaged nipples. I believe excel sells a replacement nipple set, but my local dealer gave me a great price on the complete set.
I could have reused my spokes on a 97 bike. Try some penetrating oil on the nipples a day or so in advance of when your making the switch.
