I have been at wits end over my clutch for weeks! This seems like it my be an option/fix for me.My bike is a 01'200 that I bought in Nov.After riding it at the dealership & once at home I put it in the basement for the winter. While in the basement making some mods for spring(new bike prep, reeds, jetting to 155/45)I noticed that everytime I started it,the clutch disengagement became worse. In other words,I could not start the bike in gear.Even after warm-up,the clutch still dragged.I tore it down several times and the only consistent problem I could see was that the fiber plates and the metal plates where stuck together.I tried Castrol 10-40,Mobil 1 15-50 and ATF F type-all with the same results. The basket would open up but the plates would not separate, making the clutch drag.I wondered about the amount of room in there, the direction of the metal plates and that shim ring and cone ring.If it's ok to run it without these parts, why are they in there? It seems that removing these will help my problem but I am leery of causing more problems, although I can't imagine what would go wrong with running the bike without these parts. Thanks for any input.
