I still use the stock front pipe in my '02 bike, favouring to only replace the back pipe for all the woods work locally. Over the weekend the front pipe has a dent I guess 4 inches wide, the centre pushed in I guess 1 inch.

The two questions I have if you can help are;

- how adly dented does the front pipe have to be before it will effect engine performance/life? I'm guess the small dent I have won't?

- I know you can remove thse on thin, single walled front pipes by sealing and heating the pipe. Anyone know if this is possible on the stock pipe?

Doesn't hurt to try, if it doesn't, cheap experiment. I've yet to do the heat and air pressure thing but before I'd heard about it, I dremmelled a hole on the opposite side of a dent and pounded it out from the rear. It worked. Sorry, don't have a clue as to how much damage before performance affected. Good luck, DVO
