a 20 year old who's been riding for 6 months and racing AX without a chest protector.... makes you wonder if safety equipment coulda helped avoid this unfortunate accident.

nephron said:Remember the guy that tried to jump the Caesar's Palace fountains about a year or 2 after Knievel failed? They had thoracic surgeons waiting for him just for this reason. And whad'ya know, his sudden 'deceleration' into a stiff hay bale at 80 or so separated his aorta. They surprisingly were able to save him and sewed everything back up before he got to the hospital. :yikes:
