what's the right chainwheel for open desert i'm in a 02 CR250
with a 50 tooth in the rear. should i go stock 48 or even a 46?
ridin' mojave, ocotillo,glamis.
i'm running 13/50 on the bike now, this past saturday about 7/8 into my ride i ran out of gas in the middle of the dez. not fun at all. the part that really killed me was that my gearing is too darn high for
open dez and i kept looking for extra gears all day long.
oh well i think i'll go back to stock (48)
thanks for the info kav.
no worrys. :)
I've run out of gas at the dunes before, I was luckly enough that I was on an road when it happened. I ended pushing the bike a long ways before my friend was able to get back to me with gas. He was on a CR500 and I asked him if the gas was mixed and he said "Dude I just got done tearing down a road (it was very hard packed) on a paddle. What do you think?"
If you put the 14 on the front it would probably be a cheaper and better way to go. Someone corect me if I'm wrong, but adding one tooth to the front is like droping 3 in the rear. It's probably a ratio depending on the existing size of the rear sprocket but I ain't got time to remember all that mumbo jumbo.
