Hey, Just moved to Charlevoix from Chicago and want to get the old KDX out on the trails. How do I get to the Tomahawk trail? The map on the DNR website isn't clear. Thanks for the help.

There's a couple regular staging areas. One is near Indian River, a couple miles south of 68 on Straits. The other is just south of Weber Lake(or County Line) on Springvale.

Maps here that show the parking areas (free downloads)

(specifically here this one)

The parking lot between the B & C loops on Springvale will put you on both cycle-only trails; the lot on Old 27 south of Indian River gives access to the A Loop (now ATV) and the Indian River ORV Route (snowmobile trail, open to ORVs).

From Charlevoix, probably easiest to run 31 into Petoskey and then take Mitchell over to Weber Lake Rd (Mitchell will turn into Wolverine Rd by name; Weber Lake Rd will turn into SpringVale). About 14 miles on Mitchell to Weber Lake; about 1.5 miles on Weber Lake to the parking area. That route would be paved up to Weber Lake Rd.
