Under the left side crankcase cover its really dirty. I thought the boyesen cover would keep everything out but i guess not  . What can i clean this out w/? I was told that carb cleaner that is ok w/ efi's would work. Is this safe? After i do it should i let it air dry or should i spray it w/ wd40?

Hey dont use carb cleaner because it is more caustic than brake cleaner. However most brake cleaners are brake and electrical contact cleaner and are less likely to attack the insulating coating on things such as your stator windings or the emulsions in things such as your clutch plate linnings and Ive never had brake cleaner hurt a rubber seal eather. pretty good general cleaner. just keep in mind it is FLAMABLE until it is dried up. I wrench on cars and heavy equipment for a living and dont ask how I know its flamable.
