just was wondering if anybody had a 2003 yz250. i just got mine and it is my first bike ever. wow, does that thing have a lot of power. it'll take a lot of getting used to. 3 people before me brought it back because it was too much bike for them. o well, i guess the were wussy's anyway, huh. i can ride it pretty good, as long as im not in the powerband. im not ready for all that yet. dont want to kill myself too fast.

The 99 to current yz's don't have a scary powerband, so go open it up. Yamaha did a really good job of balancing out the engine characteristics so it gets a good amount of hit from the powerband, but nothing uncontrollable. I think you will be very happy with this bike for now and a good amount of time to come.

I had a 2000, 2002 and 2003. The 2003 was the best!

In 2003 Yamaha changed the tranny gears on this bike and the spacing was a noticeable improvement. The engine is smooth and pulls from the bottom to the top with no crazy spikes. Go out and have a good time.

If you want more punch later a Pro Circuit pipe with a V-Force reed system will really wake this puppy up.
