Hey anyone out there have a dr-z400? I am thinking about getting one. I currently have a 2000 rm 125 and I want a four stroke trail bike. Any info about the bike would be appreciated, thanks.

i do not have one but my neighbor does ,its a 2001 he bought it new last year. It has locked up twice in the past 8 months. (no bad mouthing the product, but he did not take good kare of it, but took better kare than I did my xr, and it still ran when I sold it, by the way it was 93 with original piston)
I have heard alot of good of the dr's, he like the power and how it handles, but the engine just did not last. Overall he likes the bike and would reccomend it.

Well, the DRZ is a killer bike IMO. I have one, a 2001 "E" (electric start!) and it really is an awesome bike. Stock: good power, extremely quiet, electric start. Only bad thing is wieght (can't feel it though) and suspension is soft if you are either very aggressive or more than 180 pounds.
Once you open it up, it really rips. You can get 5hp or more just with a pipe, jetting and a new needle!
The DRZ is reliable, that guy must of really beat on it. I know of a guy with 10,000 miles or so on his, all HARD off-road. He changes the oil and filter every 3 rides, and he is 270 lbs (lots of abuse!)
Well, if you ever get one, email me for some good mods that are cheap and will prevent furhter damage.

Good luck!
