Yup, it's official. Mini, The Ant, and The Belinda-nator are in the big show and will definately have some stories to tell in two weeks!!
(grin) And Buddy, Mick, and Randy will be going, "... now .... this is what *really* happened...." (big grin)

Here's the entry list: http://www.goateyewear.com/pre-entry.shtml

This will be Susan's third time -- the other two ladies are Elsinore "wurgens"... The guys will be on foot all over the course for the Women's heat, so we should get some cool pics! And then we'll all be free so we can point and cheer for Mick on Sunday's 4-Stroke class. ('course, if Mick was a real man, he'd doing the Open class on Saturday w/ me and Buddy... hint-hint).

Then Buddy, Mini, Susan, Randy will be dukin' it out on Sunday in the age-group heats.

Should be a stone gas!! If you get a chance, rent "On Any Sunday" and you'll see the race as it was run back in Steve McQueen's day. They no longer run through the mud flats (it's a subdivision now...), but the downtown sections and ridge run are the same.

Woo-hoo!! Can hardly wait! - E-Ticket

Yes!! I just found Pierre entered in Sunday's Four-stroke w/ Mick!

And Jennifer too.... that's way too cool!

Ya know.... at next year's Elsinore we should see how many DRN/Riding School graduates we get to show up. Can you imagine a 30-girl Women's class...!!

And for this year..... with all the match-ups.... we really need to get some bets laid down. (grin)

This is going to be sooo cool. I can't wait. And it's going to be good to see Randy and Susan again, it's been awhile. I twisted Jen and Pierre's arms to come on down with us (actually I gave them no choice! :) ).

We're getting down late Friday arvo and we'll be staying at the Lake Elsinore Travel Inn. When's everyone else getting in? I'm all for a DRN get together Saturday night?? Anyone have any ideas?

Hey 'dere "B"....! We're also staying there:

Lake Elsinore Travel Inn (909) 245-8998
31620 Casino Road
Lake Elsinore, CA

We're hitting town around Friday noon/early afternoon and going directly to Registration and putting the bikes in the impound area. And then check out all the bikes. Last time we went there were Harley-Davidson sidehacks, and AJS, Greeves, and Rickman Metisse motocrossers that were in showroom quality. Also a couple of factory YZs from the 70/80s. When I asked one of the owners why he was going to ride such a beautiful classic in the race, he replied, "..'cause it's a dirt bike!" (grin) We'll probably hang around for a while and walk through the vendor booth area. GWe also got to talk to John DeSoto (the "Flyin' Hawaiian") and Malcom Smith. Way cool .....

Then we'll go check in and probably just hang at the motel till everyone shows. Buddy and Mini are also at the LETI. Any idea on where Pierre/Jen are staying? Soon as everyone is in, we can go do a quick drive of the course (you can see most of the course from a couple of access points).

[Tip: bring some duct tape/electrician tape. You have to wear their race bib with your assigned number. If you trim off the holders, you can duct tape it to the front of your chest protector. Then it's visible for scoring and totally out of your way.

Dinner on Saturday is a must! -- RandyB

Thanks for the tip Randy!!!

Jen and Pierre are staying at the same place as all the cool cats :thumb:

We can only take a half day on Friday. How long do you think it will take to get down there from San Jose (taking into consideration Mick's driving style that you witnessed in Oregon)? I'd love to be down there in time to check out the track seeing that we're up first thing saturday.

Mick's driving? Let's see..... leave SJ at noon.... hmmmm. Yes, by my calculations that will put you guys in about 1:30pm. (grin)

Almost EVERY E. GP thread that Mini writes finishes with: "... I am so nervous!" So let me throw some oil on these troubled waters. (Are you listening Mini? (...tee-hee...)

Bfore Susan met me, she had never ridden dirt bikes before in her life. She got her used XR200 in the summer of '97. A couple of months later, I talked into entering the '97 Elsinore Grand Prix. So, on only her FIFTH dirt bike ride ever - she found herself on the starting line in the SECOND row. (we entered very early)

She was *very* nervous. Her biggest fear was that if she crashed - she wouldn't be able to start the bike again. So they flagged off her heat and there she went. A bunch of bikes came around on the first lap. No Susan. More bikes. No Susan. Starting to wonder just a little bit.. then reminded myself that it was a 5-7 mile loop. Then out pops Susan onto Main Street! She looked great... she even waved!

Next lap, here comes Susan. And you should have seen the transformation. She came around the corner onto the Main Street section and she is totally leaning over her handlebars and gassin' the hell out of the little XR! It was so cool. (grin) When she came in, she had the biggest grin I have ever seen on a human face other than Julia Roberts.

So, a complete beginner did just fine and had a ball. All you ladies that attended the "Nicole/Kerrie Riding School for Wayward Girls" are now quite experienced and you will have absolutely no problem with the course what so ever. It is very wide, plenty of room for passing, long sight-lines, and very few surprises.

With a pre-walk/drive on Friday you'll be completely fine. Of course, once you finish your Women's heat... you might be pissed you didn't enter another heat on Sunday. (grin)

Oh, this IS GOING TO BE SO MUCH FUN!! E-Ticket

E-Ticket, yes, I'm listening!
I guess why I was saying "I'm nervous" is because I wanted to hear somebody's story and be told "You will be fine!"
After knowing Susan raced Elsinore GP on her 5th ride, I feel much better and relieved. Thanks for telling me the story of Susan.

Buddy and I should be there sometime early afternoon on Friday.
We should exchange our cell phone numbers.
I hope that we can get together with some of So Cal Wrecking Crew also.

Mini,
My biggest fear is STILL that I won't be able to start my bike - it's like, once I'm going, there's absolutely no problem whatsoever... just ride like the wind, hold a straight line so faster bikes can pass you (and there's plenty of room everywhere, no tight trail sections or anything), and wish the course was longer when they flag you off!

Yes, I am still on DRN... having been posting a lot though.... Glad to hear that everyone is going down to Elsinore... Welcome to the forum Janice! Lady bikers are awesome. Welcome to the elite group.

Let's hope it is not too muddy this weekend. I have never ridden in the rain.

Natalie, how's come you are not joining us? Belinda told me that you have a new shiny Orange bike! Congratulations. You should be showing it off! Let's go riding sometime.

I would LOVE to ride the Elsinore GP, I'm just being a big weenie about driving all that way down there. Karna and Justin have me talked into the WFO Enduro on the same day. I'm going to PLAN AHEAD for next year's Elsinore GP, take an extra day of vacation to take my time getting down there and all. BTW, you're going to Reno, right??

I can't wait to ride with you and Pierre again!! I still haven't ridden Metcalf - let's go soon! :aj:

Janice - WELCOME!! You're in good company, glad you finally popped your head in! :thumb:

Good luck to all of you (Belinda, Jennifer, Mini, Susan, Janice, Mick, Pierre, Buddy, Randy, and did I forget anyone?) Most importantly, remember to HAVE FUN :yeehaw: :) We will expect a ride report the minute you return! Natalie, Justin and I will be getting our rumps worked at the WFO Enduro so at least we will get to ride although, it would have been fun to join you!

Natalie and Karna! You both missed an awesome race in Elsinore! The conditions started off very muddy for us girls and then dried out for the men as the weekend progressed.... The track was fast and filled with a variety of conditions: mud, whoops, downhills, drops, jumps etc.

A big congrats to Susan, by the way, who beat us all and inspired us ladies with her jumping skills.

Thanks to Mini, Buddy, Randy, Susan, Belinda and Mick for an great racing weekend! It was great to see the old Oregon crew!

To respond to your question, Natalie, about Reno... Pierre and I are checking our schedules but were talked into it this weekend. If all is clear, we are there!

it was kind of overwhelmed by the whole thing. it was my first GP and i had no idea what to expect. i fell 2x, both times in rutted, muddy corners and luckily not on the asphalt. i had a great time. i wish i could have spoke to you all some more, but like i said, i was feeling very out of place. mini was very nice to me, thank you. it was nice to talk to another women rider...if only for a minute.
i hope there are other rides like elsinore GP. i'll be lurking around, watching for postings. be safe everyone!

Janice, don't you have a Yamaha? I believe that we spoke quite a few times.... You do a lot of desert riding, don't you? I enjoyed meeting you and hope that we did not make you feel out of place.

If it makes you feel any better, I fell down in the mud twice and missed a left turn and rode through the yellow tape. I am a new rider too and the GP was my first race also... Overwhelming yes, but an excellent experience nevertheless. Maybe next year, we can both get through the race without falling!

My husband taped a good part of our race. You are on it. If you want a copy, just let me know!

Janice, I feel so embarrased, but I can't remember which one was you in the race. I probably didn't hear your name correctly. Are you the one who I talked with before and after the race? Were you wearing blue jersey and blue helmet? Did I keep saying "Check DRN!"? (if so, you were already in DRN, and I was saying something strange to you....sorry!) Anyway, you came in the 5th!!! That's great! You must have ridden really fast.

Susan, Jennifer, Belinda, and Janice, you all are great riders, and I am so happy that I could share this great experience with you.

Jennifer, Belinda, Mini, Susan, Janice! Great job all!! Sounds like a blast and everyone had fun. Karna and Justin and I had fun at the WFO Mudfest up at Stonyford Sunday. We're all alive, that's all I can say!

Can't wait to see everyone at the Bearfoot!!! I should finally have a legal pipe on the kTm by then (e-start, baby!) No more wasted time trying to kick the XR, I have enough trouble on my own without that to worry about.

Glad you all had fun, how'd your men do??
