Jeff Fredette talked about log crossings at DW01. He said to always hit the log with your front tire. It will help  keep the back end from kicking. They had two logs a few feet apart on the harescramble course that Fredette had layed out. There was a sign that said "woods double".

Thanks

Thats the kind of resource I do not have access to up here (DW anything) unless I drive for days and days...anyway...thanks for the info on log clearing, I tried the "hitting it with your front tire" trick and it works much better than trying to totally clear the obstacle with the front wheel. Thanks again to all that replied!!! :aj:

How about this suggestion a guy on another forum posted.

He said to approach the log at the speed so a snap of the throttle will loft the front wheel. Hit the throttle so the bottom half of the front tire makes contact with the log. That will compress the rear forks and deflect your front tire over. After that JUMP with the bike to get the rear wheel up and when it makes contact tap the throttle.

I've never tried it before but he said it worked well. What do you guys think?
